Through our partnership with the Plasterboard Recycling Group and New West Gypsum (NWG), we facilitate access to an established gypsum recycling process that has been used to recycle more than 5 million tonnes of gypsum material for wallboard manufacturers.
The process allows waste plasterboard to be recovered and transformed into a consistent, high-quality recycled gypsum material suitable for use in the manufacture of new drywall products.
Turning Plasterboard Waste into a Valuable Resource
Plasterboard is made primarily from gypsum, a material that can be recycled without degradation. This means that, unlike many other materials, gypsum can be repeatedly recovered and reused without losing its essential properties.
The recycling process separates the different components of plasterboard, allowing them to be directed into appropriate recycling and reuse streams.
The recovered gypsum is processed into a consistent blend of pre- and post-consumer gypsum material, providing a high-quality recycled raw material for wallboard manufacturers.
Our Process
Gypsum Recylcing
The gypsum recovered from waste plasterboard is processed for reuse in the manufacture of new drywall products.
Importantly, there is no product degradation during the recycling process, meaning gypsum can be recycled and reused repeatedly as part of a circular material cycle.
Paper Recylcing
The paper backing from plasterboard is separated during the recycling process and can be baled for reuse or repurposing, helping to ensure that as much of the material as possible is recovered.
Separation of Materials
Materials such as nails, screws and other post-consumer contaminants are removed from the gypsum recycling process and directed into separate recycling streams where appropriate.
